Who was Radolt?
The exhibition “Who was Radolt?” deals with the questions of why and since when the school has borne its name. Together with the pupils, the historical background of Bishop Radolt, his work in Radolfzell and the naming of Ratoldus School are explored. The aim is to create a small exhibition about the life and work of Ratoldus and his significance for Radolfzell today. To this end, the pupils will get to know historical work and learn more about the town’s history. The knowledge gained will be presented in a portable permanent exhibition in the school building and shared with the wider school community with the help of information texts on the school website. In line with the school’s concept, care will be taken to incorporate inclusive elements into the exhibition. Follow-up projects can then be implemented at the school.
City rally of the Radolfzell daycare centers
Together with the Seehund children’s store and the Seepferdchen crèche, the Catholic daycare centres in Radolfzell are organizing a town rally where children and parents can explore the town centre in a fun way. Families collect stamps at several stations in the city center with the help of running cards. Those who complete the minimum number of stations receive an ice cream voucher as a prize, which can be redeemed at the Hausherrenfest. All interested families can take part.

Radolfzell. Together they go on a journey of discovery through
the historic old town, explore special places and
experience the surroundings with new eyes. The campaign creates
space for encounters, orientation and community – a
nice step towards families arriving in Radolfzell.

Mögging Castle Festival
On the last weekend in June, the castle courtyard of the moated castle in Mögging will be the setting for the castle festival, revisiting the legendary open-air performances of the post-war period, the glittering highlight of which was the 1960 production for the 1,200th anniversary celebrations. This tradition was revived with the “Indian Princess” for Möggingen’s 1,250th anniversary celebrations in 2010 and the “Living Chess Spectacle” in 2017 on Möggingen’s village square. Among other things, this year’s play sheds light on the quartering of French officers in the castle, the involvement of individual residents of Mögging in the National Socialist movement, interpersonal conflicts during the occupation and the persistence of right-wing extremist ideas to the present day. However, the title of this year’s play “Albinle the Castle Ghost” suggests that it won’t just be about serious things. In addition to the theater performance, there will be musical entertainment afterwards: the “Alläfänzigä” from Immendingen on June 26 and the band “Sound Kitchen” on June 27. The program is complemented by a children’s afternoon on Saturday, food and drink stands (“Möggingen kocht”) and a castle illumination at the end of each performance.
Tango flash mob: Radolfzell’s Tango Argentino scene presents itself
The project tango flashmob takes place on May 16 at around 11 a.m. on the market square in Radolfzell. Two Argentinian tango musicians, a bandoneonist and a guitarist, start playing tango music as if it were a street concert. People come closer to listen to the tango duo. Suddenly, a couple starts dancing. They dance for a minute and then separate to invite two more people to dance with them. These two couples dance for another minute and then separate again to invite four more people, and so on until the place is full of dancing couples. It’s like a snowball that gets bigger and bigger. Afterwards, the talented dancers invite the inexperienced to a short tango course led by Argentinian teacher Rafael Mendaro.
Lake Constance beats
Bodensee-Beats is a new concept for the youth event Rock am Segel.
The event offers a stage for regional bands and DJs, among others, and is specifically designed for young people from Radolfzell. Rock am Segel, now known as Bodensee-Beats, has been firmly anchored in Radolfzell’s festival culture for over 27 years.
This will also make the event a highlight for young people during the city’s anniversary. The young people will also create an attractive link to the city’s anniversary through their own event.

To the beat of the city: stories in music and sand
As part of the town’s anniversary celebrations, the Musikverein Böhringen, under the direction of Dr. Marco Geigges, invites you to an unforgettable concert evening with its program “In time with the town: stories in music and sand”, in which sound and image flow into one another. Works will be performed that reflect cityscapes and urban stories. The musicians bring the history of the Rickelshausen brickworks to life with the gripping composition “Bricks in Fire”, while a wind band work created especially for Radolfzell and its districts builds sonic bridges between the past and present. At the same time, a sand painter transforms selected works into delicate sand paintings, which are created in real time and visually underline the narrative power of the music. This special format opens up completely new approaches to the identity of the city for the audience by making regional stories tangible for several senses.
Percussion meets accordion
There is a special musical highlight for the anniversary year:
The Radolfzell Accordion Orchestra and the percussion ensemble of the Radolfzell Music School join forces to present a newly composed work on October 17 and 18 in the small hall of the Milchwerk.

World premiere of the work MODI RADOLFI CELLAE
A specially composed symphonic suite was created for the town’s 2026 anniversary, bringing the vibrant life of Radolfzell in the Middle Ages to life in five movements. Both secular and ecclesiastical scenes around the cathedral – from the hustle and bustle of the market to the ceremonies of the landlords – are traced in sound.
At its premiere, the 15-minute composition will be visually accompanied by a film specially produced for the individual movements by Radolfzell filmmaker Günter Köhler, which impressively underscores the historical motifs. The premiere will take place as part of the marketplace concert of the Radolfzell town band in front of the cathedral.
From grain to bread – a brief history of bread
The Mögginger Backhüsle Association and the Mögginger Community Garden are joining forces to bring the history of bread – far beyond the last 1,200 years – to life during the month of June. They trace the path from the grain to the finished bread, but also the history of bread over the past centuries. With practical activities, the two associations want to arouse interest in bread baking and show that bread is more than just a staple food.
