SUMMARY:Who was Radolt?
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Who was Radolt?” deals with the questions of why and since when the school has borne its name. Together with the pupils\, the historical background of Bishop Radolt\, his work in Radolfzell and the naming of Ratoldus School are explored. The aim is to create a small exhibition about the life and work of Ratoldus and his significance for Radolfzell today. To this end\, the pupils will get to know historical work and learn more about the town’s history. The knowledge gained will be presented in a portable permanent exhibition in the school building and shared with the wider school community with the help of information texts on the school website. The exhibition can be seen for the first time on Thursday\, 18.06.2026\, from 16.00 to 18.00 in the Ratoldus School building. The exhibition is inclusive and barrier-free.

DESCRIPTION:A specially composed symphonic suite was created for the town’s 2026 anniversary\, bringing the vibrant life of Radolfzell in the Middle Ages to life in five movements. Both secular and ecclesiastical scenes around the cathedral – from the hustle and bustle of the market to the ceremonies of the landlords – are traced in sound.At its premiere\, the 15-minute composition will be visually accompanied by a film specially produced for the individual movements by Radolfzell filmmaker Günter Köhler\, which impressively underscores the historical motifs. The premiere will take place as part of the marketplace concert of the Radolfzell town band in front of the cathedral.

SUMMARY:Mögging Castle Festival
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT   \nOn the last weekend in June\, the castle courtyard of the moated castle in Mögging will be the setting for the castle festival\, revisiting the legendary open-air performances of the post-war period\, the glittering highlight of which was the 1960 production for the 1\,200th anniversary celebrations. This tradition was revived with the “Indian Princess” for Möggingen’s 1\,250th anniversary celebrations in 2010 and the “Living Chess Spectacle” in 2017 on Möggingen’s village square.  Among other things\, this year’s play sheds light on the quartering of French officers in the castle\, the involvement of individual residents of Mögging in the National Socialist movement\, interpersonal conflicts during the occupation and the persistence of right-wing extremist ideas to the present day. However\, the title of this year’s play “Albinle the Castle Ghost” suggests that it won’t just be about serious things. In addition to the theater performance\, there will be musical entertainment afterwards: the “Alläfänzigä” from Immendingen on June 26 and the band “Sound Kitchen” on June 27. The program is complemented by a children’s afternoon on Saturday\, food and drink stands (“Möggingen kocht”) and a castle illumination at the end of each performance.

SUMMARY:Marketplace concert of the Stadtkapelle Radolfzell 1772 e. V.
DESCRIPTION:Under the direction of its conductor Kuno Rauch\, the Stadtkapelle Radolfzell provides a real open-air experience in the heart of the old town. The symphonic concert on the market square\, which takes place every two years\, is a cooperation between the orchestra and the town’s cultural office and is a highlight in Radolfzell’s music calendar. The Stadtkapelle Radolfzell 1772 e. V. is a symphonic wind orchestra with around 70 members\, which has accompanied and enriched the cultural life of Radolfzell for over 250 years. For example\, the band plays a major role in the Hausherrenfest and accompanies many other municipal events and celebrations. It is also dedicated to concertante symphonic brass music at competitions and on concert tours. As a prelude to the Market Square Summer 2026\, the Stadtkapelle will offer its audience rousing concert brass music and more against the magnificent backdrop of the cathedral. A special concept will be developed for this\, which will appeal to the audience as a whole. The program\, interior design\, stage set-up and lighting concept are all intertwined in keeping with the motto of the city’s anniversary. This transforms the market square into a place of captivating acoustic and visual impressions for visitors. Summer night feelings and all-round enjoyment are guaranteed!

The play is performed without a curtain and the scenes flow into one another on the open stage. The project sees itself as a civic cultural experience that not only entertains\, but also connects. DESCRIPTION:The Hausherrenfest can look back on over 300 years of tradition: it has been celebrated every year on the third Sunday in July since 1725.   \nThe festival has its origins in the veneration of the saints Theopont\, Senesius and Zeno\, whose relics have been kept in Radolfzell since the 9th and 11th centuries. As a result\, the town developed into an important place of pilgrimage on Lake Constance at an early stage. Today\, the Hausherrenfest is an integral part of the town’s life and strengthens the sense of home and community. Many people from Radolfzell return to their home town for this event. In addition to secular festivities\, the solemn procession on Hausherrensonntag with the relics of the three patron saints remains the highlight. A special custom is the Moos water procession\, which dates back to a vow made in 1796. At that time\, the people of Moos asked for protection from a cattle plague in Radolfzell. Since 1926\, they have made an annual pilgrimage across the lake in boats adorned with flowers on Landlord’s Monday. The pilgrims are ceremoniously welcomed in Radolfzell and escorted to the Minster of Our Lady.

What challenges does the city of today face and what paths will it\ntake?    \n\nUnder the title “Like this! Or different? 1200 years of Radolfzell”\, the exhibition focuses on such\ndecisions in order to highlight possible pasts and possible futures. The result is\na unique exhibition experience that conveys knowledge\, encourages reflection and promotes\nsocial dialog.      \n\nThe “Milchwerk” or the “Tanke”\, the “Rathaus” or the “See” – in the rooms of the Villa Bosch\n\, visitors enter familiar places and rediscover them in surprising ways. What\nwould happen if Radolfzell had become a university town? What if the town had once again\nbecome the site of a barracks? And what if the sinking lake level created a land connection\nto Reichenau?      \n\nTo the next 1200 years  \n\nThe conclusion and highlight of the exhibition is a time capsule. For centuries\,\npeople have been preserving messages for posterity\, hidden in foundation stones\, church spires or in\nattics.  They contain things of such great importance that they are intended to stand the test of time and\nmay only be opened in the distant future. \n\nThe exhibition takes up this tradition and poses the question: What should Radolfzell leave behind for the future\n? Which memories\, experiences and hopes are worth preserving for future\ngenerations?   \n\nAt the interactive stations of the exhibition\, visitors can contribute their own thoughts and wishes in a playful way\nand actively participate in developing a vision for Radolfzell at\n– at the end\, they decide for themselves what should be included in the time capsule and preserved until the next anniversary at\n.   \n\nCity and universities  \n\nThe exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Radolfzell Cultural Office\, the University of\nKonstanz and the HTWG Konstanz. In the winter semester 2025/26\, students of\nHistory\, Architecture and Communication Design conceived the exhibition and implemented it in the\nsummer semester.    \n\nThe exhibition is the seventh project of the interdisciplinary cooperation “Mediale\nAusstellungsgestaltung”\, which has repeatedly set innovative accents and has received many awards\n.   \n\nThe exhibition opens on July 31\, 2026 in the Villa Bosch and can be seen until November 15.\nThe exhibition will conclude with the handover of the sealed time capsule containing the hopes and\nvisions of the people of Radolfzell – it will be opened at the next 1200th anniversary in 3226!

They traditionally open the academy with the lecturers’ concert on August 4 in the Christuskirche.  \nDuring the daily master classes in the following week\, interested visitors can directly follow the honing of technique and interpretation and experience the young course participants and their results on various concert stages in a series of open-air and evening concerts. \n  The highlight of the Summer Academy is the final concert and award ceremony in the Christuskirche. The day begins solemnly with the premiere of a new mass at 9.15 am in the cathedral. It was created especially for this place\, this special occasion and for the people who sing\, make music and celebrate worship together here. Afterwards\, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.\, the time travel stations invite you to immerse yourself in the different eras of Radolfzell and experience history up close.In addition\, exciting historical activities await you\, which will be presented in more detail over the course of the year – let us surprise you!    \nJubilee weekend Sunday: Minster brass concert \nAt the end of the anniversary weekend\, the Münsterbauverein and the Münsterbläsern will be organizing a top-class festive concert. Two top-class soloists have been secured for this concert – the trombonist Uwe Schrodi from Radolfzell-Markelfingen and the trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich.
