SUMMARY:New permanent exhibition at the Stadtmuseum
DESCRIPTION:As a first step\, the foyer on the second floor was completely redesigned. The newly designed exhibition invites visitors on an interactive journey through time\, giving them an overview of the town’s settlement history. \nAn important element is the wide range of interaction options in the new room. Drawers can be pulled out and their contents viewed\, flaps can be opened or a district puzzle can be played. The lighting has also been modernized to improve the overall visual impression. The final element is a display case\, which is filled with a new object every year\, be it a new addition to the museum or a loan from the public. Because every everyday object can make history – perhaps the object that particularly moved us this year will one day be on display in a museum. \nPublic tours of the extended permanent exhibition will take place on Friday\, March 27 and Friday\, April 17\, both at 3 pm. \nThe new room is the centerpiece of the city museum’s permanent exhibition and can be visited from Thursdays to Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. from January 22.

SUMMARY:Night watchman tour
DESCRIPTION:When dusk falls over the alleyways of Radolfzell’s old town and the last voices of the day fade away\, the time of the night watchman begins. With a lantern\, halberd and plenty of narrative flair\, he guides you through a Radolfzell that often remains hidden during the day. Step by step\, a world full of stories\, little secrets and great events from centuries past opens up to you. \nWith a keen eye and a twinkle in his eye\, the night watchman recalls his former task: to ensure peace and security\, report fires and keep an eye on the night-time goings-on. His stories make you smile\, make you think and shed a warm light on life in a time without streetlights and modern conveniences. \nWhether locals or guests – this 1.5-hour tour invites you to rediscover Radolfzell. More slowly\, more intensively and with all your senses. When night falls over the town at the end of the tour\, you will not only be left with the echo of old stories\, but also with the feeling that you have come a little closer to Radolfzell. \nTickets must be purchased in advance at the Radolfzell Tourist Information Office or online at Reservix. \nThe Radolfzell Tourist Information team will be happy to take group inquiries on +49 7732 / 81 500 or info@radolfzell-tourismus.de.

SUMMARY:Special exhibition Stadtmuseum: Ratoldescella - Radolfzell
DESCRIPTION:Radolfzell celebrates – and looks back on more than 1200 years of eventful history. To mark the town’s anniversary\, the Radolfzell Town Museum will be showing the special exhibition “Ratoldescella – Radolfzell” from May 17\, 2026. \nThe exhibition begins with the founding of the town of Radolfzell in 826 by Bishop Radolt of Verona. With the “Ratoldescella”\, a first ecclesiastical settlement\, he laid the foundation stone for today’s town. The presentation traces his life as a religious and political player in early medieval Europe – from Reichenau via Aachen and Rome to Verona. Historical views and reconstructions bring the old cityscape back to life. An interactive display of Heber’s map from 1708 shows many exciting details of the Radolfzell area during the Baroque period. At the same time\, the exhibition also sheds light on the vanished Radolfzell\, from the Hölle brewery to the “Café Achteck”\, and commemorates people from Radolfzell who sought their fortune abroad. Their stories show how home lives on in memory. \nThe exhibition can be seen in the Radolfzell City Museum from May 17th. It invites all visitors to embark on a multifaceted journey through the past of the town on Lake Constance. \nThe city museum is open Thursdays – Sundays from 11.00 am – 5.00 pm.

SUMMARY:(W)Places write history - connecting stories: writing and reading for everyone
DESCRIPTION:For over three years\, eight women who couldn’t be more different have been writing together regularly: the “Miteinander schreiben” group. The women meet twice a month at the TeggIn meeting point at Teggingerstraße 10 to get creative together. For their readings as part of the town’s anniversary celebrations\, the writing group went in search of personalities who are important to Radolfzell. Her texts show how many ways you can approach Radolfzell and the people who live and lived here through literature. \nThe eight women will present the results of their work at three readings\, each with new texts: Friday\, June 12\, 2 – 2:45 p.m. in Böhringen at Sägemühle 1 (outdoors) and Saturday\, Oct. 17\, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the city library\, Marktplatz 8. The reading in the multi-generation house will be accompanied by Christiane Hermann and Christina Bretzke on the accordion. \nThe project is a civic project sponsored by the city to mark the city’s anniversary. Thanks to the funding\, the “Miteinander schreiben” group was able to hold various workshops under professional guidance: a theater pedagogy training course to train voice\, expression and stage presence as well as workshops under the guidance of an experienced writing coach. The aim of the group is to experience the joy of writing together\, to promote intergenerational dialog and to appeal to people of all ages and from different cultural backgrounds and to inspire them to write. Anyone interested is cordially invited to come to the group meetings. Info: Mehrgenerationenhaus der Diakonie\, Tel. 7732 952786.

SUMMARY:Who was Radolt?
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Who was Radolt?” deals with the questions of why and since when the school has borne its name. Together with the pupils\, the historical background of Bishop Radolt\, his work in Radolfzell and the naming of Ratoldus School are explored. The aim is to create a small exhibition about the life and work of Ratoldus and his significance for Radolfzell today. To this end\, the pupils will get to know historical work and learn more about the town’s history. The knowledge gained will be presented in a portable permanent exhibition in the school building and shared with the wider school community with the help of information texts on the school website. The exhibition can be seen for the first time on Thursday\, 18.06.2026\, from 16.00 to 18.00 in the Ratoldus School building. The exhibition is inclusive and barrier-free.

SUMMARY:Marketplace concert of the Stadtkapelle Radolfzell 1772 e. V.
DESCRIPTION:Under the direction of its conductor Kuno Rauch\, the Stadtkapelle Radolfzell provides a real open-air experience in the heart of the old town. The symphonic concert on the market square\, which takes place every two years\, is a cooperation between the orchestra and the town’s cultural office and is a highlight in Radolfzell’s music calendar. The Stadtkapelle Radolfzell 1772 e. V. is a symphonic wind orchestra with around 70 members\, which has accompanied and enriched the cultural life of Radolfzell for over 250 years. For example\, the band plays a major role in the Hausherrenfest and accompanies many other municipal events and celebrations. It is also dedicated to concertante symphonic brass music at competitions and on concert tours. As a prelude to the Market Square Summer 2026\, the Stadtkapelle will offer its audience rousing concert brass music and more against the magnificent backdrop of the cathedral. A special concept will be developed for this\, which will appeal to the audience as a whole. The program\, interior design\, stage set-up and lighting concept are all intertwined in keeping with the motto of the city’s anniversary. This transforms the market square into a place of captivating acoustic and visual impressions for visitors. Summer night feelings and all-round enjoyment are guaranteed!

SUMMARY:Like this! Or differently? 1200 years of Radolfzell - Exhibition Villa Bosch
DESCRIPTION:In the 1200 years of its history\, Radolfzell has reinvented itself time and again – through\ndecisions that have shaped its community\, opened up new paths and closed others. \nTo mark the anniversary\, the exhibition looks back at history and ahead to the future.\nWhat historical decisions have shaped Radolfzell and could things have turned out differently\n? What challenges does the city of today face and what paths will it\ntake? \n\nUnder the title “Like this! Or different? 1200 years of Radolfzell”\, the exhibition focuses on such\ndecisions in order to highlight possible pasts and possible futures. The result is\na unique exhibition experience that conveys knowledge\, encourages reflection and promotes\nsocial dialog. \n\nThe “Milchwerk” or the “Tanke”\, the “Rathaus” or the “See” – in the rooms of the Villa Bosch\n\, visitors enter familiar places and rediscover them in surprising ways. What\nwould happen if Radolfzell had become a university town? What if the town had once again\nbecome the site of a barracks? And what if the sinking lake level created a land connection\nto Reichenau? \n\nTo the next 1200 years \n\nThe conclusion and highlight of the exhibition is a time capsule. For centuries\,\npeople have been preserving messages for posterity\, hidden in foundation stones\, church spires or in\nattics. They contain things of such great importance that they are intended to stand the test of time and\nmay only be opened in the distant future. \n\nThe exhibition takes up this tradition and poses the question: What should Radolfzell leave behind for the future\n? Which memories\, experiences and hopes are worth preserving for future\ngenerations? \n\nAt the interactive stations of the exhibition\, visitors can contribute their own thoughts and wishes in a playful way\nand actively participate in developing a vision for Radolfzell at\n– at the end\, they decide for themselves what should be included in the time capsule and preserved until the next anniversary at\n. \n\nCity and universities \n\nThe exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Radolfzell Cultural Office\, the University of\nKonstanz and the HTWG Konstanz. In the winter semester 2025/26\, students of\nHistory\, Architecture and Communication Design conceived the exhibition and implemented it in the\nsummer semester. \n\nThe exhibition is the seventh project of the interdisciplinary cooperation “Mediale\nAusstellungsgestaltung”\, which has repeatedly set innovative accents and has received many awards\n. \n\nThe exhibition opens on July 31\, 2026 in the Villa Bosch and can be seen until November 15.\nThe exhibition will conclude with the handover of the sealed time capsule containing the hopes and\nvisions of the people of Radolfzell – it will be opened at the next 1200th anniversary in 3226! \nVilla Bosch is open Wednesday through Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Villa Bosch is closed on Monday and Tuesday!

DESCRIPTION:It’s the highlight of the anniversary year in Radolfzell: On Saturday\, September 12\, and Sunday\, September 13\, 2026\, the big anniversary weekend will take place in downtown Radolfzell and along the lakefront. The date was chosen deliberately—because September 13 is historically documented as the anniversary of the death of the city’s founder\, Bishop Radolt of Verona. \n \nAnniversary Saturday – 48th Radolfzell Old Town Festival \nOn September 12\, 2026\, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.\, Radolfzell’s downtown will once again be transformed into a large festival area\, serving as a gathering place for locals\, guests\, and visitors from across the region. Throughout the day\, a varied music program sets the mood on several stages and in various squares—ranging from brass band music\, soul\, and Latin to jazz and rock\, as well as DJ sets featuring DJ Dennis Dorn on the market square stage. \nThere are also plenty of hands-on activities for children and teens\, including acrobatic shows\, bounce houses\, a children’s carousel\, water games organized by the youth fire department\, the fire department’s traditional duck race on Kirchgasse\, and a puppet show by the Sparkassen Puppet Theater on Gerberplatz. Various clubs and businesses from Radolfzell and the surrounding region will also be showcasing their offerings on Sankt-Johannis-Straße. \nIn this anniversary year\, historical themes also play a special role: “time islands\,” historical parades\, a fashion show\, and a medieval encampment featuring crafts and glimpses into life in times past bring Radolfzell’s history to life. \nAnniversary Sunday—Festive Church Service and a Colorful Program \nThe festival Sunday\, September 13\, is all about history and faith. SUMMARY:Culture Night 2026
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, October 2\, 2026\, creativity will once again be in the air in Radolfzell! At the 22nd Radolfzell Culture Night\, art and culture enthusiasts can embark on a fascinating and varied journey of discovery through the city from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. This time\, the Böhringen district will also be taking part. Mayor Simon Gröger will officially open the Culture Night at 5:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Church in Böhringen. \nWith over 80 participating artists\, Culture Night 2026 offers a particularly diverse program. At numerous exhibition venues\, artists from Radolfzell and the surrounding region will present their works\, performances\, and projects. From music\, dance\, and theater to literature and film\, and on to painting\, photography\, sculpture\, and craftsmanship\, nearly every form of artistic expression is represented. Visitors are invited to experience art and culture firsthand and discover extraordinary exhibition venues. They can look forward to a special atmosphere\, exciting encounters with the artists\, and a city that\, for one night\, is entirely dedicated to art and culture. Participation in the Culture Night is free for all artists. The event is organized by the city’s Cultural Office. \nAmong the first-time participants this year is the theater club of the Friedrich-Hecker-Gymnasium. Under the title “Hecker-Act\,” the students will present amusing scenes based on Carlo Goldoni’s comedy “The Servant of Two Masters” at the Evangelical Church in Böhringen\n. The performance centers on the shrewd Truffaldino\, who serves two masters at the same time\, thereby setting off a chain of mix-ups and chaotic situations. The performance offers a preview of the full play\, which will be staged at the Friedrich-Hecker-Gymnasium on October 21\, 2026. \nAn Oasis of Experiences in the Former FORA Factory \nThe former Fora factory at\non Libellenweg\, behind the Nahkauf\, is being transformed into an oasis of artistic experiences. Amid factory halls\, studios\, and old factory buildings\, a space will open up for Culture Night that many Radolfzell residents pass by every day—yet hardly know. Under the motto “FORA SUBKULTUR” and curated by Victoria Graf\, the former FORA factory will become a vibrant hub for art\, music\, crafts\, and social interaction for two evenings. Artists\, musicians\, creatives\, and business owners invite you to discover the diverse spaces of the site. Open studios offer glimpses into current projects\, while bands and solo artists provide the perfect soundtrack—and behind doors that are usually closed\, exciting stories and surprising perspectives await. The FORA Factory epitomizes a vibrant subculture where creative work\, craftsmanship\, and everyday business life coexist side by side. Here\, works of art are created alongside metal structures\, event technology is developed\, and new ideas for the neighborhood’s future take shape. If you’re curious about hidden places\, creative people\, and a special atmosphere away from traditional cultural venues\, “FORA SUBKULTUR” is the perfect place for you. \nAnother highlight of the program is a group exhibition featuring several artists from Böhringen\, organized by the Bleib e.V. association in the Böhringen barn. In addition to the theater performance\, guests can look forward to a varied program of exhibitions and music at the Protestant Church in Böhringen. \nGo on a journey of discovery in the city center \nThere’s also plenty to see and do in the city center. Artist Daniel Wolf is showcasing his wooden sculptures in the attic of the City Library (\n)\, while the City Museum (\n) is presenting a special exhibition—designed specifically for the Night of Culture—on the history of its past exhibitions. Another eye-catcher is Jan Klingenberg’s exhibition at Elsa’s Hairlounge at Schützenstraße 15. There\, Klingenberg displays his extraordinary\, homemade electric guitars. Using materials such as skateboards\, stair treads\, tin cans\, records\, wooden suitcases\, and cigar boxes\, he creates unique instruments that visitors can not only admire but also try out. Spontaneous jam sessions are expressly encouraged! \nAt Villa Bosch\, which opens at 6:00 p.m. on this day\, visitors can view the exhibition “So! Or Otherwise? 1\,200 Years of Radolfzell” until midnight. In this engaging presentation\, students from the HTWG Konstanz and the University of Konstanz invite visitors to rediscover Radolfzell’s history and take a look into the future. The central question is which historical decisions have shaped Radolfzell—and whether things could have turned out differently. \nIn addition\, numerous other art and cultural venues in the city center invite you to explore and linger. All venues and participating organizations can be found in the Culture Night brochure\, which is available in the downtown area and online at https://kulturbuero-radolfzell.de/kulturnacht.

SUMMARY:Reading of the historical Lake Constance novel "Flüsterzeit" - Petra Palumbo
DESCRIPTION:“Flüsterzeit – zwischen Herkunft und Sehnsucht” tells the moving story of the Manogg family over several generations. Rooted in the picturesque landscape between Lake Constance\, Hegau and the Swabian Alb\, the descendants wrestle with the shadows of the past and the challenges of an uncertain future. From the turmoil of the German Empire to the collapse of the Weimar Republic\, personal destinies are interwoven with the great upheavals of the time. Between the southern German provinces and pulsating metropolises\, the life of a family unfolds as they set out without denying their origins. A captivating novel about home\, departure\, loss and new beginnings and an impressive testimony to the times. \n“Flüsterzeit – zwischen Herkunft und Sehnsucht” is the first historical novel by Petra Palumbo\, who was previously known as a crime writer under the name Luzi van Gisteren. Petra Palumbo was born in 1973 in Singen am Hohentwiel and studied business administration before working for an international corporation in Munich for more than twenty years. She now lives with her family in Radolfzell on Lake Constance\, where her father’s roots lie. Writing has been her passion since early childhood: the author wrote her first book at the age of 13. She has been teaching creative writing to young people and adults for many years\, including at adult education centers and as part of literary education projects. She works professionally in marketing. \n \nPlease register:museum@radolfzell.deorTel. 07732/81-530 (Thu-Sun\, 11am-5pm)

SUMMARY:Scenic song recital
DESCRIPTION:But the history of Radolfzell has so much to offer that you get slightly stressed during the brainstorming session: what should you focus on? You could play out scenes from the Heilig-Geist-Spital to the Mettnau cure. Or would you rather sing the praises of Viktor von Scheffel? What about the vineyards\, the pub culture or the Ratoldus fountain? And Schiesser? Schiesser must definitely go in! \nThat’s why this time the ZellAkkorde are telling lots of little stories about the town. The focus is on rather unknown women whose fate is linked to Radolfzell. However\, male personalities such as Victor von Scheffel and Jacques Schiesser also have their say and sing. Embedded in various Radolfzell locations and institutions. An exciting anniversary evening! \nDirected by Anny de Silva & Waltraud Rasch. Musical direction / accordion: Gerhard A. Schiewe from Berlin. \nWhen and where \nFriday 15.05.2026 20:00 PREMIERESaturday 16.05.2026 20:00Sunday 17.05.2026 17:00 \nFriday 16.10.2026 20:00Saturday 17.10.2026 20:00Sunday 18.10.2026 17:00 \nTheater Zeller KulturZentrum\, Fürstenbergstraße 7a\, Radolfzell \n Admission \nAdmission fee: 20 euros. SUMMARY:Percussion meets accordion
DESCRIPTION:There is a special musical highlight for the anniversary year: \nThe Radolfzell Accordion Orchestra (conducted by Rudi Hartmann) and the percussion ensemble of the ”\n” Music School in Radolfzell (conducted by Martin Deufel) will \n\n on Saturday\, October 17\, 2026\, at 8:00 p.m. and \n\n\n\n\, Sunday\, October 18\, 2026\, at 5:00 p.m. \n\nperform a collaborative piece\, *\n*\, in the Small Hall of the Milchwerk Radolfzell. \nIn this world premiere\, these very different ensembles gradually come together musically over the course of *\n*\, a four-movement work.\nThe sounds of these instruments are historically rooted in very different styles and eras\,\nand they are not always the same. \nA wide range of musical influences will come together to form “\n.” Both groups of musicians have long been open to the music of the\nworld and a wide variety of genres. \n\nThus\, the soundscape you’ll hear will extend far beyond the clichés of tango\, jazz\, marches\, and so on\n. Classical polyphony is and always will be a means of expression; layered sounds\n—as found in film scores—along with techniques of classical modernism and the grooves of popular music\nspan a wide range. \nIf you still can’t picture what this music is like\, you’re right—\n: it didn’t exist until now! \n\nSo the motto is: Come\, listen\, be amazed\, and enjoy! It certainly won’t be a lecture—\n—but rather an enjoyable evening of music that will feel like it goes by “too quickly.”

SUMMARY:Trombone Choir Concert for the City's Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:Focus: Blech turns its attention to the world of brass instruments. The trombone ensembles of Christuskirche Radolfzell and Lutherkirche Singen present a varied program ranging from chorales to spirituals\, from Baroque to pop—at times festive and radiant\, at other times powerful and virtuosic. \nWhat makes this concert evening special is the combination of music and imagery. Selected photographs and impressions of our city and its surroundings accompany the individual works\, creating a bridge between music and home. Landscapes\, iconic locations\, and atmospheric views of the region enter into a dialogue with the music. The result is a concert experience that appeals to both the eyes and the ears: an invitation to listen\, look\, and discover. \nA concert celebrating Radolfzell’s 1\,200th anniversary. Admission is free. Proceeds from donations will go to the Badische Posaunenarbeit Foundation (http://stiftungskonzert.de/).

SUMMARY:Object karaoke - The thing from the depot
DESCRIPTION:Object karaoke with exhibits from the Radolfzell City Museum.Moderation: Johannes Elster \nIn the museum\, we marvel at exhibits that bear witness to times long past\, foreign cultures\, artistic genius or simply good curation. We are normally denied a look behind the scenes\, into the storerooms and into the depot of the Radolfzell City Museum. At Object Karaoke\, improv artists present objects from the Radolfzell City Museum that they are seeing on stage for the first time. They are given a new object every 90 seconds for six minutes and have to present it to the audience as originally as possible. After each presentation\, the museum explains the real history of the object to the audience. \nIt is up to the audience to decide by the volume of applause who makes it to the final and wins the first object karaoke in Radolfzell. \nAdmission: 6€ Reduced: 3€
